Panel debate on EU legislation to protect and restore forests A panel discussion with Hugo Schally of DG ENV, Sebastian Lesch of BMZ, Tan Sri Yusof Basiron of CPOPC, Mareike Felix of Aldi South, and Perrine Fournier of Fern to discuss how this new legislation will impact stakeholders involved in the palm oil supply chain.

Interactive break out sessions Participants can choose to participate in one of the following sessions:
  • EU legislation to protect and restore forests
    In this session, we will explore how legislation from the European Commission can promote change on the ground in producing regions. Antonie Fountain of Voice Network will share learnings from the cocoa sector, Ian Suwarganda of Golden Agri Resources (GAR) will share GARs position and Frans Claassen of EPOA will talk about the position of EPOA.
  • Social Challenges in the Oil Palm Sector: Implementing the Decent Living Wage (DLW)
    During this session, participants will hear from Carla Romeu Dalmau of IDH what Living Wage and Living Income are, she will touch on different benchmarks for determining DLW, and present the living wage road map of IDH. Kamini Visvananthan of RSPO will present the criteria of RSPO on DLW and share experiences of the oil palm sector. Moderated by Kristin Komives of ISEAL, there will be a discussion on the challenges with implementation of DLW in the agricultural sector.
  • Inclusive Approaches for Sustainable Landscapes
    An introduction to landscape approaches in the context of oil palm with two project learnings from Glyn Davies of WWF and Reuben Blackie of Pepsico. This session will be moderated by Gita Syahrani of Lingkar Temu Kabupaten Lestari (LTKL).
  • Closing the Gap to Reach 100 percent
    A review of the progress made towards Europe's target for 100 percent sustainable palm oil. What's missing and what actions need to be taken to close the gap? Update of progress and government initiative NISCOP by Daan Wensing of IDH and an updated scorecard and new initiatives and campaigns by Sabrina Goncalves Krebsbach from WWF. Hans Loth from Rabobank will speak about the struggles and successes from the financial sector. This session will be moderated by Daan Wensing from IDH.

Changing Trends in Consumer Behaviour In this session we will review findings from studies that explore consumer awareness of palm oil and sustainable palm oil. This will be followed by a discussion with Olivier Charrier of Ferrero, Dior Decupper of Upfield, and Daniel Salter of Tesco to gain insights into their approach to communicating proactively and positively about sustainable palm oil.
